Matina (Tia) McAneney
Freelance Contemporary Dancer/Artist
Matina McAneney is a 20-year-old independent freelance artist based in Sydney, Australia. Matina has a Bachelor of Dance degree from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA) 2019-2020, and undertook dance as a subject in completion of her Higher School Certificate in 2018.
Matina has been a member of the Dance Makers Collective’s (DMC) Youth company ‘Future Makers’ since 2019. She has performed with the Future Makers company alongside DMC in the work, ‘The Rivoli’ for Sydney Festival 2020. She has been able to work on a collaborative piece, 'Correspondence' with Nadia Odlum, as part of Making Art Public: 50 Years of Kaldor Public Art Projects; performed at the Art Gallery of NSW, 2020. Matina was also a finalist in FORM’s 2020 Sharp Short Dance Youth festival. She has recently had the opportunity to create a site-specific solo with independent artist, Brianna Kell for Future Makers work ‘In Situ’ for Sydney Festival 2021.
