Who We Are:
Diverse Dancers Australia (DDA) is a group of dance artists, educators and clinicians with marginalised identities* and allies who advocate for wider representation and inclusion in Australian Dance.
DDA centers marginalised perspectives and empowers artists, individuals, and organisations working towards social justice and cultural equity in dance.
*Marginalised identities in the Australian dance sector include Indigenous, Black, people of colour, CALD (Culturally And Linguistically Diverse), disabled, trans, gender expansive, LGBTQIA+ and body diverse populations
Our Vision:
DDA’s vision is to create a more ethically conscious dance community in Australia, with an emphasis on clearer representation of our current Australian society.
DDA aims to aid dance organisations nationwide in achieving diversity and equity at all levels of the institution, with the goal of successfully achieving equitable spaces on stage and off.
By working together to eliminate exclusive practices, we can allow audiences to further connect visually and emotionally with artists and stories being told on stage, ensuring dance will stay relevant for generations to come.
Our Mission:
At DDA our mission is to assist in developing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive dance industry across Australia, both visually and physically. While working to achieve representation at all levels.
“Representation in the arts matters, because the arts matter.”
